Adult Family Life Insurance Questions

  • Our Family Plan gives you flexibility - you can cover just yourself or include your spouse and/or kids too, all on one policy. You can get up to $2,000,000 in Term life coverage on yourself (or up to $1,000,000 of Whole life if you prefer).* Our Family Plan gives you (and your family) the financial support needed should the worst happen.

    * For applicants age 56 or older, maximum coverage amount is $500,000.

  • Term life insurance provides life insurance coverage for a specific period of time, typically 10, 20 or 30 years. It’s generally less expensive than other types of life insurance so you can get more coverage for less cost.

Whole life insurance provides permanent coverage for your entire life (as long as premiums are paid) and builds cash value over time. As a result, whole life insurance generally costs more than Term.

  • Depending upon your situation, it may not be. Employer life insurance typically offers 1-2X your salary. While that may seem like a lot, if you have kids that would need to be supported until they are adults, or if you have a mortgage that your spouse will have to pay, it’s likely not enough. A good rule of thumb is to have 5-10x your salary in life insurance coverage. Many folks own a separate policy to cover the gap from what their employer provides to what they really need.

  • Your spouse can be covered on the policy with a $50,000, 10-year level term policy; and/or you can include your children with $10,000 in coverage for each child (coverage for children goes to age 21 or for the duration of the primary policy if ends prior to child reaching 21.)

  • You’ll need to include your spouse or child when you apply. However, if you have a child now and include the child rider and then have additional children later, your policy will cover your future children. Just let us know and they will be added to your policy.

  • Our policy includes an Accelerated Death Benefit. If you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness, you can receive up to 50% of your death benefit as a lump sum. This money can be used for treatment or care to make your final days more comfortable.
